K9 Pearly Whites teeth cleaning process is supervised by a licensed Veterinarian in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The overseeing Veterinarian will determine your pet’s eligibility prior to the cleaning. See below for details.
K9 Pearly Whites Practitioner and staff does not determine your pet’s eligibility based on oral wellness, and as such, K9 Pearly Whites strongly recommends a recent oral wellness examination by a trained and experienced veterinarian to assess overall oral hygiene of your pet before proceeding.
K9 Pearly Whites teeth cleaning process is based on extensive training and gentle handling techniques. However, temperament is assessed at the time of your anesthesia-free teeth cleaning service. If a dog or cat exhibits aggression upon being handled, they may not be eligible for this procedure. We want to ensure the safety of both the pet and the practitioner.
Service and Procedure
Prior to your pets teeth cleaning each pet receives an oral wellness exam by a licensed Veterinarian. Based on the results of the oral wellness exam the Veterinarian will determine if the anesthesia-free teeth cleaning process is a suitable alternative or a dental must be performed under anesthesia to treat advanced stages of periodontal disease.
For those pets where the K9 Pearly Whites Anesthesia-free Teeth Cleaning Process is a suitable alternative, the Veterinarian will determine if antibiotics are required for your pet. In addition, the Veterinarian will provide supervision during the teeth cleaning process.
As with any teeth cleaning procedure, it is imperative that the practitioner has been properly trained in both the technicalities of cleaning, as well as proper animal handling.
The steps for anesthesia-free teeth cleaningare similar to traditional cleanings.
#1 An ultrasonic cleaner is used to remove tartar from the teeth.
#2 A special designed dog scaling instrument is used to clean the crown of the tooth.
#3 The teeth are polished, which helps to remove any remaining tartar and staining on the teeth.
#4 To complete the procedure, the mouth is rinsed with a natural antiseptic to help clean out debris loosened during the procedure.
Animals are often held in the lap of the technician and feel little discomfort during the cleaning.
Anesthesia-free teeth cleaning benefits pets of all ages and types while increasing routine dental cleanings, preventing periodontal disease and reducing the likelihood of severe complications, including death.
Geriatric animals, who normally have slower anesthetic recoveries, can finish the procedure completely alert and with little risk. Patients with organ dysfunction including a heart murmur, liver dysfunction, or kidney disease have a greater risk of injury or death with anesthesia.
At K9 Pearly Whites every effort will be made to remove the tartar from your pet’s teeth. While we strive for excellence, your pet is awake and alert during the procedure, and it may be impossible to remove all the tartar.
